The Hill: $800,000 wire transfer from billionaire donor to US Chamber raises curtain on dark money
But the Chamber's ad didn't say - “vote for,” “vote against,” “elect,” “defeat,” “support,” “reject,” “cast your ballot for” or “_______ for Congress”, so it's cool.
I remember talking with then Representative Peter Meijer a few years back, coincidentally, just around the corner from The US Chamber of Commerce. He was one of ten GOP members who had voted to impeach Trump and was feeling the heat. He was addressing a group of market oriented environmental people. I was observing. I found him thoughtful and engaging.
I did not know that he was the son of a billionaire.

But nepo-babies deserve a bit of extra scrutiny in our opinion. The Hill in a recent piece did some scrutinizing.
The overarching theme of the article is that Mr. Meijer appeared to benefit from “dark money”.
Mejeir’s father gave $800,000 to the US Chamber of Commerce and soon thereafter the Chamber ran some ads lauding Congressman Meijer and his “commitment to Michigan” etc. etc. Meijer ended up losing anyway, but The Hill asks if these ads are just a coincidence.
