Like the Soviet implosion - Trump's win changes everything
And like that...It all started to crumble
I remember when the Soviet Union ended. I was in my early teens and I had spent my entire life on or around navy bases. My dad was a naval officer and a true Cold Warrior. I remember going down to the docks where we lived and seeing nuclear submarines moored. One time we were even invited onto one. I can say that I have been on the bridge of the most lethal weapon ever devised by humans. I lived every day of my young life with the knowledge that if the Cold War got hot, everyone I knew would be gone in a flash. It was a very real thing for me. I was incredibly relieved when the Soviet Union died.
It didn’t happen overnight. As I remember it started with a trickle of people crossing the Hungary/Austria frontier. Then it became a torrent. Before we knew it the Berlin Wall fell. Then the entire Evil Empire imploded.
It was an amazing time. For many of us a giant weight was lifted from our shoulders. The feeling that the world was careening toward Armageddon sooner rather than later evaporated.
Trump’s win reminds me of that time.
So many of us were worried that the statists (not that Trump isn’t a kind of statist) would completely take over. We saw in Kamala an empty vessel, a very willing employee for a vanguard of the far-left who wanted desperately to consolidate Obamaism. We saw the speech police creeping from college campuses into everyday life. We saw overt censorship stemming from the Biden White House. We witnessed the vaccine fascism of Covid. We witnessed equity insanity infect corporate America. We saw how readily part of the American population ate the lies they were told by the legacy media without questioning. It was a very bleak picture.
But on November 5th, despite all the ranting and raving from the entrenched in the government and in the media, the American people decisively sent Donald Trump back to the White House.
For many it was like the Berlin Wall falling, again.
Similar to 1989 it feels like another huge weight has been lifted from America’s shoulders. (We bet even many people who didn’t vote for Trump feel it.)
There are those of course who, like the folks in the 1990 Kremlin, do not like that the winds of change have turned against them. But turn they have, and decisively.
MSNBC loses almost HALF its viewers in stunning post-election ratings report
Al Sharpton’s acceptance of Kamala Harris campaign’s $500K donation a ‘bridge too far’ for MSNBC colleagues
Al Sharpton extracted a half million from Kamala’s camp? We are shocked!
Watch this orgy of arrogance. Trump won Iowa by 12 points. How could Ms. Selzer get it so wrong right before the election? She was off by 15 points. Some people are calling for an investigation.
