Harvard pres Claudine Gay, accused of yet more plagiarism, resigns
Harvard Crimson: Shortest tenure in university history
While shopping for last minute Christmas gifts last week I nearly bumped into a kid with a Harvard sweatshirt on. He was with what appeared to be his father. I looked at him and as I often do (my poor wife) I asked a question.
“So, do you think President Gay should resign?”
The kid looked at me, wise beyond his years evidently, smiled and basically said he had no comment. His father then leaned in and said, “I think she should be gone.”
It is hard to see how anyone could feel otherwise. Ms. Gay appears to have engaged in pretty egregious plagiarism (in addition to her hemming and hawing on the jihad question - which is a more nuanced issue) and yet, because she was a leading light for intersectionalism, which is still en vogue with many at Harvard and with some donors, she was able to cling on to her job.
But no longer.
Harvard President Claudine Gay will resign Tuesday afternoon…
…The Corporation — the University’s highest governing body — is expected to announce the resignation to Harvard affiliates in an email later today. Gay is also expected to make a statement about the decision.
The announcement comes three weeks after the Corporation announced unanimous support for Gay after “extensive deliberations” following the congressional hearing.
As we have said, it is outrageous that Ms. Gay was able to last as long as she did as it appears that she engaged in scholarly fraud of the kind that would end a simple undergraduate student’s career at Harvard.
Over the weekend more evidence came to light.
And there was this oped in The Harvard Crimson three days ago.
