"Fake science" rampant? 217 year old scientific publisher retracts 11,000 papers
Wiley shuts 19 journals down COMPLETELY
But the concern over scholarly research integrity isn't confined to Wiley publications. A study published in Nature last July suggests as many as a quarter of clinical trials are problematic or entirely fabricated.
In the throws of the Covid storm Western Civilization (and the rest of civilization for that matter) saw totalitarianism descend from on high. Countless small businesses were destroyed. Millions of children suffered psychologically. We were forced to wear masks that did little to nothing, essentially to show that we were in line with official “scientific” guidance. We stood six feet away from one another, for no other reason than that the new masters thought it was a good idea. It now appears that there was no scientific basis for the distancing rules, but we were told there was. Karens in grocery stores lost their collective you know what because they were told the six foot rules had a scientific basis. (I remember a lady in the Costco taking issue with me as I went to grab some blueberries.) People were jabbed with experimental vaccines that for at least some had profound negative effects, much more than Covid itself. We were told that if we were jabbed that stopped the spread of the virus. This was also wrong, if not an overt lie. People were COMPELLED to get the jab if they didn’t want to lose their jobs. Some lost their jobs.
You know because of science.
To be clear we are great fans of science, and the scientific method particularly. Scientists engage in near miracle work every single day. We all owe much to the scientific method. If you’ve ever had a shot of penicillin after getting strep throat or flown across the Atlantic you know what we mean. But we need to acknowledge that something is also very wrong in “science” today.
It is a fact that bad science is increasingly exploited by those who seek (ever more) power. It is also a fact that much of what we have long considered high quality academic research, science, is not in fact the rigorous pursuit of truth. In some cases it appears to be outright bull puckey. Witness the move by the esteemed scientific publisher Wiley just in the past few weeks. Unauthorized and undocumented AI use was (is?) widespread in its journals and apparently no one was actually doing any kind of review of the submitted papers to catch it. As a result thousands of deeply subpar papers were submitted and published.
