Biden was fired. He didn’t resign.

Biden was fired. He didn’t resign
We could be wrong. Maybe President Biden has been totally in control the whole time. Maybe it was his decision this weekend to step down. Maybe his “resignation” wasn’t essentially a soft putsch initiated by Democratic Party leadership both official and probably more importantly unofficial.
Maybe.
Readers and followers of ACC know that we’ve been asking when Biden would depart for months. Just watching Biden from day to day it was very difficult to see how the president would make it to election day. It was obvious to us, as it is now obvious to the entire world, that Biden lacked the capacity to continue on as president. Still, the Democratic Party and a generally compliant legacy media insisted that Biden was more than up to the job. Remember Joe Scarborough, morning mouthpiece for the party just four months ago?
“Start your tape right now, because I’m about to tell you the truth, and F you if you can’t handle the truth. This version of Biden, intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever.”
Scarborough, whose job is to deliver the official Democratic Party talking points for the day to the few who still watch him, looked his viewers in the eye and flat out lied. He wasn’t mistaken. The situation didn’t change. He lied. He knew he was lying.
This is par for the course in politics, but it has been particularly the case within the Democratic Party apparatus over say the past three years or so. It’s just that in the past six months it’s become so absurd, so obvious, that even partisans inclined toward the Democratic Party have been like… “um….”.
Scarborough is not one of the bosses. He is a messenger. An important role, but not an executive roll. That job rests in the hands of big billionaire Democratic donors, and probably to a significant extent still in the hands of people like Obama and Pelosi. On Saturday the Democratic “partners” indicated to Biden and company that they had had enough of his antics.
As recently as YESTERDAY NBC News reported this story, which recounted an insider call with donors where Biden was still clinging to power and Kamala was not yet the flag bearer.
The call with donors started with presentations from field organizers who expressed anger at the ongoing debate within the Democratic Party about backing Biden, given what they’ve seen and heard from voters on the ground, according to one source with direct knowledge of the discussion.
One source said before Harris joined there seemed to be an effort to stall, which they said is normal for events with high-ranking officials. But what angered many donors, this source said, was that during the wait — which was about 20 minutes — donors were “admonished.” Participants of the call were told they needed to “lock in and get behind” Biden and to not pursue efforts to push out the president.
“Please help us turn down the volume on this conversation publicly,” Melissa Morales, founder and president of Somos Votantes, said on the call, according to a transcript obtained by NBC News. “It’s time to stop the leaks and the rampant rumors. Your message has been heard and received. But every day that we continue this publicly chaotic conversation, we come closer to a loss — no matter who the nominee is.”
That didn’t sit well with some on the call.
“That didn’t sit well with some on the call”.
We’ll bet not. The people who hold the purse strings for the party do not take kindly to the people they are paying for wasting their time. Somewhere between that call and about noon Sunday the decision was made. Biden was out.
And that lady they were all annoyed with? Kamala? She was in. She was hired. This is because given the way Biden’s war chest is set up Kamala has the easiest access to the funds.
It is interesting to us that the Democratic Party, the DEMOCRATIC party is now the party of the superdelegate, the party that rigged the primaries for Biden in the first place, the party that sought to disenfranchise both Trump and RFK Jr. voters, and is now pushing a candidate that has not been voted on by any delegates at all. It all seems very un-democratic to us. Where is the voice of the people?
Answer: Nowhere.
The operators making the decisions within the Democratic Party, as far as we can see, appear to be a small group of Obama/Clinton/holdovers and big time donors who do not want their political cheese moved.
One of the reasons (aside from access to Biden money) that Kamala is being pushed right now is because for the people who have long run the Democratic Party she is safe. She will be a compliant employee. The people she appoints to positions will be the same people who have long been in power. She will push the same old agenda the Democratic Party has been pushing since Obama. Identity this. Identity that. Deplorables are out to get you. The same, old, divisive, societally destructive narrative.
One important question is whether Kamala is a sacrifice or for real. For the next month or so she will be for real. If she gathers some momentum, she could remain for real. But if she falters and no other Democratic candidate comes out of the woodwork (on Sunday Hillary was being floated) to seize power (even more democratically!) at the convention this whole bit of Democratic Party insider politics will begin quickly to look like a giant punt.
