Another Week With DOGE (It's Almost TOO fun, Almost)
Establishment DC loses its mind as the federal web is mapped out
There has been so much coming at us on the anti-crony front over the past couple of weeks it’s been hard to catch our breath. DOGE, Hegseth, Tulsi, RFK Jr., plus a million other things. I’ve never seen so much happen, so much actual CHANGE happen in Washington in my life. I wonder if there has ever been so much change in the Imperial City in such a short period of time.
Some might say that FDR’s “first hundred days” was similar (in the opposite direction), but even with all he did in that time we can’t say that it was on par with what we’ve seen in Trump’s first 30 days. The world is now very different.
For many of us it has been an uplifting and encouraging ride. Finally someone is getting into the guts of the beast and starting to unwind the entrails. For others there is fear. They like the beast. They make money with the beast. They rely on the beast for their power. Exposing the ugly bits of government for the world to see was not something they ever thought they’d see. As Maxine Waters recently said when interviewing Chairman Powell at the Fed; “We don’t know what all they have on us.”
Very interesting.
The federal government was almighty. No one could really challenge the administrative/crony-state. Reagan himself barely chipped around the corners and in the end was unable to do much in terms of reducing the size and scope of government. The blob has long felt secure. They were part of the Imperial Court, and we are talking politicians, various levels of government employees, contractors, and NGOs. The rest of the country could go to hell, but Washington, the Imperial City could weather any storm. The apparatchiks felt comfortable. More than that. They felt impervious.
That is why we see the wholesale freakout from much of the state as DOGE goes to work. Hundreds of thousands of people know now that their meal ticket is in jeopardy. What’s worse? Many people who thought they were above scrutiny in Washington DC are now worried that they will be outed as cronies. They will be shamed. Some of these people, who once thought they were untouchable, might go to jail. We’ll see. It’s still very early days, but we think it is very possible that people at all levels of government might see the inside of a jail cell.
Not because Trump is being vindictive, though one can understand how he might want to be, but because the fraud and graft is increasingly so obvious to the public that justice will be demanded by the middle class of this country.
This is a middle class revolt. Yes, Trump’s rich. Musk is unfathomably so. But they are doing what heretofore has never been done, exposing the state for all to see. Taxpayers want to see. I promise if your household is a net tax PAYER of taxes you want to see where your money is going. If you are a tax revenue TAKER you’d most likely prefer that DOGE not look at things too closely. It is our belief, seeing the debates on our Facebook page over the past couple of weeks, that this is generally the case. If you see the state as something that takes from you you are likely cheering the DOGE efforts. If you see the state as benefiting you, if you live off of taxpayers in one way or another, you probably see Musk and company as threatening all that you hold dear.
That is why we see the histrionics.
There will be mistakes of course. That is a guarantee. There was this for instance…
Trump administration says it has no plans to fulfill $400 million 'armored Tesla' contract
The State Department said Thursday it is abandoning plans of purchasing $400 million worth of armored Tesla vehicles after a public document detailing federal contracts for fiscal year 2025 gained wide attention.
That expected purchase of Teslas, which was slated for September of this year, is now on hold, according to the State Department, which now says it has no plans of fulfilling the contract.
Taxpayers do buy a lot of GM, Ford, and Chrysler vehicles via the Pentagon, but given DOGE it’s probably best to hold off on this purchase.
But we’ll take the odd mistake in as the very noble goal of holding the state accountable is pursued with vigor (and amazing AI, which has blindsided the establishment).
As we said, a lot has been happening on the anti-crony/DOGE front so we’ll just include some links here for you to peruse over the weekend.
