It’s been yet another bizarre week. Not quite as bizarre as the week prior but still pretty weird. As I write this the rail system in France has ground to a halt and DC city workers are scrubbing the word “Zionist” off of the latest monument to be vandalized by Che Guevara cosplayer tourists. So, on the whole, about par for the course of late.

I was just looking at the state by state equation for Kamala and she has one seriously tough path to victory. By no means insurmountable, especially given the current race, but pretty tough. She arguably looks worse than Biden in the Midwest though she might be marginally better in North Carolina, Georgia, and Nevada. Politico says it’s all about Pennsylvania, which very well could prove correct.

We’ll soon have a better sense of what the race really looks like once we get some broad, solid polling which to date we don’t really have.

One other thing your editor finds interesting is that the Democrats seem to be pretty pleased with Kamala at this moment, and in the wake of Biden one can understand why, but she is really quite out on the fringe politically. This could prove a serious liability. Also if minority support continues to grow with Trump that would be a huge red flag. (The election could turn on it.) But maybe “bratty” GenZers will come to Kamala’s rescue. That’s the hope within the media establishment anyway.

Regardless, it’s mid-summer. Life is bigger than politics. Get out there and grill a couple steaks and drink a couple beers. Before we know it we will be in full on election season, the days will be shorter, and we’ll be staring down another holiday season with all that comes with that post-election.

Environmental justice or crony boondoggle?

As one who cares about environmental issues I can attest that “environmental justice” is a legitimate thing. I’ve spoken at length with leaders in the space. It is true that people in places like East Palestine Ohio, Flint Michigan, and East Saint Louis have been impacted significantly by pollution etc., and that is worthy of exporation and in some cases mitigation. However “environmental justice” is also a vehicle for crony capitalism as we see here.

Whenever there are big piles of money taken from the taxpayer and doled out there are always groups that vie for these funds in the name of making the world a better place.

Mostly the world is made a better place for the cronies.

(From The Washington Free Beacon)

Environmental groups represented on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris's own environmental justice council are among the largest beneficiaries of the president's environmental programs, collectively receiving hundreds of millions of dollars, according to a database of federal grants reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.

In total, four leading environmental justice organizations—WE ACT for Environmental Justice, the Bullard Center for Environmental & Climate Justice at Texas Southern University, the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, and Kean University's Center for the Urban Environment—have been awarded a staggering $229 million in Environmental Protection Agency grants and have been named as partners to grantees awarded another $200 million.

Netflix's 'Don't Look Up' got $46 Million from Massachusetts taxpayers

That makes sense. A bad made-for-streaming movie gets tens of millions from everyday taxpayers to pay an “all-star” cast. Seems pretty fair.

In Uganda young people protest Marxist crony establishment. Get arrested

Is there any place in the world that has been held back more by the Marxist fairy tale than sub-Saharan Africa?
